Uncle Wiggily and Old Mother Hubbard is a delightful children's story that follows the adventures of Uncle Wiggily Longears an elderly rabbit gentleman as he interacts with various characters from Mother Goose rhymes. The narrative begins with Uncle Wiggily's hollow-stump bungalow burning down prompting him to visit friends and acquaintances while his home is rebuilt. Throughout his journey Uncle Wiggily encounters several Mother Goose characters each facing their own issues related to change. In one adventure Uncle Wiggily meets the first little pig Grunter who is building a house of straw. When a wolf threatens to blow it down Uncle Wiggily cleverly hides Grunter in a snowbank saving him from the wolf. Similarly he assists the second little pig Squeaker by hiding him in an ice cabin when the wolf blows down his wooden house. The third pig Twisty-Tail builds a sturdy brick house and with Uncle Wiggily's help they fend off the wolf using an icicle arrow. Uncle Wiggily also aids Little Boy Blue whose horn is frozen by thawing it with a warm pie allowing the boy to blow his horn again. He helps Mother Goose's black hen Higgledee Piggledee by discovering that rats are stealing her eggs and stopping them. Additionally Uncle Wiggily assists Little Bo Peep by providing her with toy sheep to take home ensuring she doesn't return empty-handed. Lastly he helps Little Tommie Tucker who cannot sing for his supper due to a cold by lending him a singing doll to perform in his place. Through these whimsical tales Uncle Wiggily demonstrates kindness resourcefulness and a willingness to help others embodying the spirit of adventure and friendship.
