Understanding Fractions

The number on the top of the line is called the numerator. It tells us how many equal parts of the whole or collection we're dealing with. The number below the line is called the denominator. It shows us the total number of equal parts into which the whole is divided or the total number of the same objects in a collection. See? Fractions are not as complicated as they may seem at first.
