Understanding the inequalities that affect women's careers

About The Book

The aim of this book is to present a study about the specificities in the demands of women for Career and Vocational Guidance (CPG). The text presents two important points to be considered. The first confirms the national and international literature on the subject and shows the great inequality between the career construction of women and men with respect to job opportunities and wages making it clear how much gender relations overdetermine the demands of women who seek a career guidance process mainly due to motherhood affective relationships and the construction of gender roles by the families of origin. The second original in the literature constituting a relevant contribution was to see how much and how gender relations (supports) can assist in the construction of women''s careers. It is also concluded that it is unquestionable and of great importance the inclusion of gender in the analyses of the field of career and vocational guidance (CPG).
