University Governance in Latin America

This study offers a systematic review of governance models in Latin American higher education from their colonial roots to contemporary challenges. It analyzes the tension between autonomy accountability and neoliberal reforms highlighting the hybridization of models and current challenges such as political interference inequality and unstable funding. With a critical and contextual approach it proposes theoretical frameworks adapted to the Latin American reality and orientations for future research including governance in private rural and indigenous institutions. A key contribution to the global debate on higher education.
