This book analyzes aspects of the dynamics of urban center transformation based on the interventions and representations that acted in the process of reproducing the urban space of downtown Campinas. Through urban interventions it analyzes the interests actors involved and urban project proposals as well as the manner of regulation between local and global politics. The analysis of representations of space examines how the population appropriates and identifies with the city center its historical heritage and ongoing urban transformations as it is believed that these representations are a valuable tool for the agency of ideas that govern urban planning actions.
