A country’s economic status is reflected in the performance of stock markets. The Indian stock exchanges play a dominant role in Asia and at the global level. In India the NSE and the BSE are the enablers of stock market’s performance. Technology advancement transparency variety of products low transaction costs are the key factors of strength of the Indian stock exchanges. Well-designed risk management policies with high technology systems are in place with NSE and BSE. They have become famous in the world due to a large group of investors huge turnover of securities low transaction costs improved efficiency investor’s safety measures regulatory mechanism disclosure etc. In recent times global (US) stock markets have greatly influenced Indian stock markets which lead to a significant pattern of increase/decrease in stock prices. This study is to know whether the volatility in stock market will have impact on Indian economy.
