Use of novel insecticides against Leucinodes orbonalis in brinjal crop
English

About The Book

During the Brinjal crop season seven insect pest species were found attacking the crop at different growth stages. Among them brinjal shoot and fruit borer L. orbonalis Guenee was recorded as major pest. Bihar hairy caterpillar Diacrisia obliqua cotton aphid Aphis gossypii G. and white fly Bemisia tabaci G. were found moderately damaging the crop. The leaf roller Eublemma olivacae leaf webber Psara bipunctalis grass hopper Chrotogonus sp. recorded on the crop were of less importance. Efficacy of different insecticides revealed that all the treatments proved better than control at all time intervals after each sprays. Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 150 ml/ha was found most effective in reducing the infestation of L. orbonalis which was closely followed by lambdacyhalothrin 5 EC @ 1000 ml/ha fipronil 5 EC @ 1000 ml/ha bifenthrin 10 EC @ 1000 ml/ha and carbaryl 50 SP 1000 g/ha. The highest yield (268.50 q/ha) was obtained in plot treated with chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 150 ml/ha. However higher cost benefit ratio (1:5.55) was recorded from chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 150 ml/ha.
