The baobab is one of the main woody food species of Sahelian populations. Today this species is threatened with extinction in several countries as a result of destructive human and natural actions. The aim of this study is to show the impact of man's actions on the one hand and nature's on the other on the baobab. Two (02) localities were used as testing grounds to operationalize the present study. These were Kotaki and Banigoungou. The method used was empirical. A questionnaire was used to interview 31 baobab-holders aged 49 and over. A semi-directive interview guide was also used with 03 technical managers and 03 representatives of the local associations involved. The data collected revealed not only the virtues of the species under study but also the threats it faces in Kotaki and Banigoungou.
