In this book I bring together an investigation into the use of the 'Straw Calculator' in the teaching-learning process of maths during the 4th year of primary school and its contributions to solving mathematical problems with a view to approaching multiplication with the idea of the multiplication table using didactic material in the classroom. Based on the PCNs - National Curriculum Parameters - and supported by authors who discuss the subject as well as areas of knowledge associated with Maths Education we will address the need to create mechanisms for students to acquire knowledge and reasoning. Finally the aim of this work is to shed light on the relevance of using technology with a view to maths that is little used in the classroom.
