Utilitarianism

Utilitarianism is a family of normative ethics which believes that morally good actions are ones that maximize happiness and well-being of the most number of people. There are various interpretations of utilitarianism. The basic idea behind all of them is to maximize utility in some way. It is a form of consequentialism which states that the consequences of any action are the only standard of right and wrong.
