An important person to mention is U.V.Saminadayyyar who is fondly called 'Tamil Thatha'.Many rare epics and Puranas which are the assets of the Tamil language were scattered in many places without being properly compiled in manuscripts. U.V.S. searched for all of them out of his interest in Tamil and the lofty aim of making our literature widely available to the people researched them compiled them and published them in a book.
