About The Book

The Uyghurs are the Turkic Muslim ethnic minority living primarily in the Xinjiang China. After the establishment of PRC in 1949 the process of migration of Uyghurs from Xinjiang started considerably as the Uyghurs believed that they might not get a proper treatment under the communist leadership. Uyghurs initially migrated to neighboring countries such as Kazakhstan Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Then Turkey provided them shelter on the basis of their ethno-cultural similarities. Later they moved to Germany USA and other nations for political recognition and they established many international organizations to fight for their cause. In this work I have discussed the course and causes of Uyghur Migration from 1949 to 1990 and relationships emerged with the host countries where many immigrant Uyghurs are living especially Kazakhstan in Central Asia Turkey USA and Germany in Europe and valuable support provided by these host countries in realizing the Uyghur dream of political social and cultural freedom. I have also discussed how China dealt with these host countries to maintain the stability in XUAR by all means under the economic trade ties and diplomatic pressure.
