Valentine and the Devil

<p>Valentine and the Devil is a 97000 word science fiction novel. The story revolves around Valentine a member of the Night Watch in a medieval City. One evening he and the Watch encounter an alien bearing a remarkable resemblance to the devil complete with red skin and horns. The alien is not the devil he is a security guard for another alien seeking to make trading relationships with the City. The Inquisition steps in arrests and tortures them both. Valentine and the Watch rescue the prisoners but must now flee their City. They are offered positions as guards on the trader's ship discovering too late that it is a spaceship. So begins the journey of Valentine and the Night Watch; a journey which takes them to the stars to strange planets and stranger beings. They encounter killers and violence treachery and murder.
