Viability of pollen grains

In pollen viability studies the determination of pollen grain fertility can be investigated using direct and indirect methods which involve methodologies in the field or in a laboratory environment in an attempt to predict what happens in the flower. Each technique allows for the interpretation of pollen fertility and almost always a combination of them guarantees a more accurate estimate of viability.
