Vitamin D deficiency and the tumour characteristics in Breast cancer

About The Book

Vitamin D insufficiency has been linked to an increased risk of breast prostate and colon cancers. It''s thought that low vitamin D levels cause unrestricted cellular proliferation angiogenesis and metastasis. Breast cancer in patients with low 25(OH)D levels (below 30 or 32 ng/ml) are more aggressive resulting in a worse prognosis. Western literature shows a correlative relationship between vitamin D status and increased incidence of breast cancer its impact on the Indian population is of questionable value because India is a tropical country with abundant sunshine throughout the year.
