<p>Vladivostok is a collection of writings by the writer journalist and theatre critic Maurice Kennedy published in various Irish publications and anthologies over four decades. From witty essays and criticism to a number of short stories the tome represents a selection of the work published by Kennedy. It includes the seminal much-anthologised title story 'Vladivostok' which was first published in the review Irish Writing and then brought out in the British Winter's Tales series by Macmillan.</p><p><br></p><p>Maurice Kennedy was born in Youghal Co Cork and throughout his career as an Irish civil servant he was also a successful freelance writer his short stories being particularly well known and widely translated. Throughout the 'fifties and 'sixties he was a regular contributor as literary and drama critic to The Irish Times The Irish Press and to literary periodicals of the time. In the mid 'fifties he edited and presented a programme called Plays of the Week for RTE radio. </p><p><br></p><p>This is the second edition of the collection and is published in tandem with an electronic book edition.</p>
