Vowel Contrasts in Arabic Dialects of Yemen

About The Book

This book explores an important linguistic issue related to phono syntax. It investigates the phenomenon of vowel deletion and vowel insertion in the Arabic dialects of Yemen (ADY). The book discusses the interaction between phonology and syntax in terms of how and why Yemeni people delete and/ or insert vowels in their local speech. To our knowledge no sociolinguistic research has tackled this issue.
