Jacques has left the love of his life Jeannette in England as he follows his destiny immigrating to Canada with his three Percheron horses from France in a harrowing voyage from Liverpool to Montreal in late winter of 1852 while she and her family are dealing with the consequences of her dysfunctional brother's behavior promising to follow when things are better.
