Discrimination against women in terms of earnings is considered to be widely prevalent. In poor countries women are inadequately served in terms of education health and legal rights creating differential endowments in men and women leading to differential labour market outcomes for men and women. Gender inequality thus affects growth and hence income levels. However in the Indian context there have been very few systematic quantitative studies of gender-based earning differentials. This book is a study of corporate offices of Delhi undertaken to find out the actual wage differences between women and men workers and to filter out the component of wage difference attributable to gender bias.
