Originally published in 1937 this book was written by the pioneering British statistician and economist Arthur Lyon Bowley (1869-1957). The text provides a statistical analysis of wages and income in the United Kingdom from 1860 onwards attempting ''to bring into a coherent whole'' the work carried out in this area by Bowley during the preceding 40 years. A bibliography is included and notes are incorporated throughout. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in wages statistics and British economic history.
