“Rather than love than money than fame give me truth.” First published as Walden; or Life in the Woods Walden is a beautiful paean to simplicity and solitude amongst natural surroundings. Five years prior to the book the noted transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau had moved into a cabin he built by Walden Pond. Over the course of two years Thoreau experimented with the idea of living a life of solitude in the woods detaching himself from the pleasures of social life and finally penning down his learnings in this book. Part personal declaration of independence and part social experiment Walden is a sweeping account of selfdiscovery.
