About The Book

Every life has both highs and lows. ItÂ’s wonderful when we stand on the Mountains but how do we survive the dry desert? Walk in the Desert is a book with two true stories from my life that may give solace to others knowing they are not alone.Valley of Tears covers only a six-week period from diagnosis to death of a young adult daughter.Summer on Cape Cod is the story of brain tumor surgery and recovery. This should give hope to the many who will receive that diagnosis. It is not always a death sentence.Dr. Roderick MacKinnon will be awarded the Nobel prize in chemistry in December 2003 in Sweden for his work in basic medical research. He is the son of William and Helen MacKinnon. Roderick is the middle child of a family of seven children. In the first story he was a medical student at Tufts University in Massachusetts. In the second story he had his own Research Lab at Harvard University. He now has his Lab at Rockerfeller University in New York. He is an important character in both of these stories.
