Walk to Save Oak Flat

When the U.S. government handed off a piece of national forest land to a foreign mining giant in 2014 the Apache Stronghold formed to protect a site long held sacred to the Chiracahua Apache people. As word of the land grab spread across the country activists and environmentalists joined the occupation at Oak Flat Arizona to save the land and protect the religious freedom of indigenous people. This story chronicles a mother and daughter who walked from Washington to Arizona with their dog to join the occupation.
