Neptunia oleracea Lour. Syn. Neptunia prostrata (Lam.) Baill. a tropical plant in Eastern South Asia and Southeast Asia serves both as a vegetable and traditional herb for addressing various health issues. Despite its economic and nutritional importance in urban agriculture FAO statistics overlook its contributions. In Thailand extracts from Neptunia oleracea display antioxidant activity while in Vietnam it is cultivated in the ponds for vegetables. Isolated phenolic compounds from water mimosa show promising in DPPH free radical scavenging and α-glucosidase inhibition.
