About The Book

This book is based on the seasonal variations in various physico-chemical biological parameters and heavy metal concentrations in Sirhind Canal along its Course in Moga Punjab India for measurement Water Quality Index of the Canal. Industrialization & Various anthropogenic activities (bathing and cattle wading washing clothes dumping of garbage disposal of domestic wastes agricultural run-off have led to the pollution load into the Sirhind Canal. Ten different study sites were selected at a distance of approx. 4 km from each site along its course. Water samples were collected from each study site during summer monsoon and winter seasons. Various physico-chemical and biological parameters for each water sample were estimated. It is concluded from above findings that water quality of Sirhind Canal in Moga region has been deteriorating by industrialization & other anthropogenic activities. Therefore there is a need to conserve this valuable resource by implementation of proper monitoring system proper drainage for the domestic and agricultural waste less usage of chemical and hazardous fertilizers and hygienic maintenance of the sanitary conditions.
