Hi. I'm Cissy. I began writing Wax during a time when my sense of self felt uncertain. My second psychotic episode happened on the anniversary of my first as if to remind me how fragile and fleeting identity can be. Psychosis has a way of breaking down everything you thought you knew about yourself. It strips you bare forces you to let go and reshapes you in ways you never expected.

Wax: Poems of Identity & Impermanence is about those moments of change. It's about how life through trauma love or loss can melt away the parts of us that once felt solid. It's about what we discover when we're forced to let go and how we find meaning in the process of being reshaped.

Writing these poems helped me accept that identity is fluid. Who we are is never fixed. Change can be hard but it's also part of how we grow. These poems are my way of making sense of that impermanence and reclaiming my voice through it all.
