We Preach

I heard a story about two guys talking about sermons. The first guy is complaining about preachers and their sermons: I went to church for years but I forgot the sermon by the next day. So I figured Whats the use in going to church and listening to a sermon if I cant even remember it a day later? The other fellow says You know I cant recall anything I had to eat this week but something tells me I did eat. In fact if I hadnt eaten I would have noticed that. I cant help but think sermons are like that. Even if I dont remember them for long it doesnt mean they didnt do me some good. They feed me despite the fact I cant recall all the words.This book is dedicated to pastors who labor each Sunday to find a way to nourish their congregations. No doubt some meals (i.e. sermons) are better than others but thanks be to God for preachers who want to provide a meal each week for the parishioners looking for something to sustain them for the week or perhaps just for an hour.
