Legends are fictitious heroes who can be human or superhuman. Folklore is a collection of beliefs that are founded in a certain cultural setting. However similar stories may be found all throughout the world with just minor variations. Myths and legends have the unique quality of being anchored in distinct locations while maintaining a broad universal outline.</p><p>Is it feasible that these internationally shared stories are based on universal human experiences? Our shared biology and universally equivalent life cycles from birth to marriage childrearing and death may inspire broadly similar stories of genuine love struggles or futile attempts to transcend the line between life and death.</p><p>Love is vital to gods and a recurring motif in many stories. The protagonists in each love story are motivated to undertake a variety of things because they care for one another. To love someone else people must make sacrifices. They must set aside their personal desires. In myths and tales characters are forced to make sacrifices because they love someone else and these sacrifices define the plot. The stories can help us understand human nature and how we behave when we fall in love.</p>
