Weeds differ in their ability to compete with crops at similar density levels. This is primarily because of differences in their growth habits and to some extent in the allelopathic. Allelopathy has been defined as the inhibitory or stimulatory effects of a plant or microorganism on other plants through the release of chemical compounds into the environment.
