By regularly intervening in a political system alternation generates a periodic recomposition of the balance of power between majority and opposition parties. Before power can be exercised it must be conquered and to achieve this a number of strategies both orthodox and unorthodox must be refined. This depends on whether you're in power or in opposition. Being in the majority or in opposition is neither a dictate of one camp over the other nor a drawing of lots. This essay is an inverted analysis of a generally accepted proposition in political science namely the conclusions of Maurice Duverger's laws. Moreover rivalries and interference in the internal affairs of the Congolese state have increased as the scramble for Congolese resources dictates the geopolitical reclassification of the DRC. These geostrategic considerations are bound to distort the alternation process. Thus faced with the institutional stakes the process of alternating power while remaining nothing more than a democratic delight and test is showing signs of running out of steam and giving cause for concern.
