About The Book

Western Wetland Flora provides an introduction in non-technical terms to the wide diversity of aquatic and wetland plants of the western United States. The book allows students ranchers consultants and others with little or no botanical background to identify the plants found in the regions lakes ponds rivers marshes swamps and bogs. The Flora describes over 300 vascular plant species both native and introduced and a number of rapidly spreading invasive wetland plants such as Kariba-weed (Salvinia molesta). Each species is illustrated with a line-drawing a detailed description and a county-level distribution map. A simplified key is used to place a plant into one of nine easily recognizable groups.
