As Chiang Kai-shek was a significant historical figure involved in numerous major events the book is divided into five chapters. Specifically the first second and fifth chapters follow a chronological timeline while the third and fourth chapters overlap chronologically. Nevertheless each chapter maintains its own distinct thematic focus.</p><p>本书所选的文章作者均曾与蒋介石或短期或长期接触，知晓蒋介石某一方面的事迹。因蒋介石作为重要的历史人物，参与了大量的历史事件，所以全书共分为五章，首章、第二、第五章的时间线是顺延下来的，而第三、第四章在时间上多有穿插，不过每章都有着各自的主题。</p>
