What status for Palestine and the role of the Security Council

About The Book

The Security Council plays an important role in the admission of a member state. In the case of Palestine in order for it to become a full member the Secretary General must transmit this request to the Security Council and at least nine of its 15 members must vote in favour of it. The territory is not a state in the sense of international law but its current status is that of an observer entity at the UN General Assembly where it is represented by the Palestine Liberation Organisation.
