About The Book

What We Learn From Nature is a compilation of seven short children's stories outlining what we can learn from the natural world around us.

We start with the caterpillar and how this creature endures a difficult 'yucky' stage in the cocoon only to emerge as a beautiful butterfly through the process of metamorphosis. The lesson here is to stay strong through tough times and remember that we too will grow and evolve.

Secondly we learn about the squirrels and how they store food for winter - teaching children the valuable lesson of preparation for the future.

The Spider is the third story where the animal is observed building a web on a windy day. The lesson learned here is resilience and the power of not giving up.

Next we watch the birds and how they wait patiently for the right moment to swoop down and grab the worm from the earth. Patience and opportunity are the lessons here as well as feeling free to sing when we are happy.

Story number five follows a trail of ants and demonstrates their teamwork as they pass crumbs and leaves to one another. This lesson teaches us the value of teamwork and also shows us that just like the ant we are much stronger than we think.

Number six takes us away from animals and onto the trees. The boys in this story observe the changing of leaves through the seasons and learn that trees do not resist this process they trust it. We note also that just like trees we as humans have periods of growth and rest.

Lastly our seventh story teaches us lessons from dogs. Lessons around being present stopping to smell the flowers loyalty love and having fun.
