About The Book

First published in 1990 four years before Nelson Mandela assumed the presidency of a democratic South Africa When Darkness Falls boldly captures the spirit of resistance shown by black South Africans in the face of the brutal apartheid system. It is a book that boldly anticipates a future without apartheid and which in moving poetry tells of a peoples determination to live love and laugh even under very difficult conditions. Former newspaper editor Kaizer Mabhilidi Nyatsumba wrote this stirring book because of his love of poetry and the desire to strike a literary blow against apartheid in South Africa. He is currently chief executive officer of the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa in Johannesburg. This was his first book published and it is now being republished for a bigger international market. The author was born in White River in the province of Mpumalanga in South Africa. He went to school there and moved to the province of KwaZulu-Natal for high school and later for university. He subsequently obtained a scholarship to study at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. where some of the poems contained in the book were written. He has also studied worked and lived in the United Kingdom. Publishers website: http: //
