Born in rural South Australia in 1888 Wilkins became the first to film combat in war fly across the Arctic and pilot a submarine beneath the polar ice. A pioneer in aerial mapping and meteorology he documented vast unexplored regions of the Arctic and the Antarctic. His relentless pursuit of knowledge and adventure was fueled by a rugged upbringing and insatiable curiosity.
