<p>Rachel has spent years shielding her daughters; Maya twelve and Ellie six; from the worst of their father's anger. But when the violence escalates beyond what she can bear she makes a desperate choice: run. With nothing but a few belongings and an unshakable determination to keep her girls safe they flee into the unforgiving streets of the city.</p><p>For a month survival is their only goal; finding food avoiding danger keeping hope alive. But the weight of homelessness presses in and Rachel realizes she can't do this alone. A women's shelter offers respite and soon a resource center gives them something even more precious: the chance to rebuild. As Rachel fights to reclaim their future Maya struggles with lingering fear and loss while Ellie clings to the promise of a home that's truly theirs.</p>
