Why Art Matters

This is a study about the role of art in communityconflict transformation. There is insufficientinformation and empirical evidence about howperformance art interventions can support existing forms of conflict resolution practice. This is a U.S.based study that explores and explains howperformance art interventions can complementtraditional and transformative interventions in thefield of Conflict Resolution. Quantitative andqualitative research collected and analyzed for thisstudy indicates and suggests how performance art as a dialogically-based intervention can influence anindividual's attitude perception and or positionabout issues that are relevant to the field of Conflict Resolution. Suggestions are made aboutcomplementary interventions and the stage of conflictin which this unique type of intervention could bemost useful.
