Why Balanced Scorecard in Higher Education Institution

Organizational strategic evaluation is always one of the most essential parts of the strategic plan. This aspect is very important especially for universities considering to the knowledge-based economy and today''s turbulent environment. Up to now different frameworks have been used for assessing the organization''s circumstances which each one has appraised the organization''s environment with a different approach. One of the capable strategic frameworks in this field is BSC in which the whole perspectives of the organization are examined as balance. As pressures for performance measurement and accountability in universities mount the need to rethink and reframe the excellence measurement frameworks has never been more pressing. BSC may be an important tool of linking the vision mission strategies and operational activities of universities together with a mapping of goals and objectives as well as performance evaluation.
