<p>They say the mountains keep secrets. I used to think that was just something locals whispered to spook tourists like ghost stories told around a campfire. But now? Now I'm not so sure. I've been out here long enough to know the signs the way the air feels heavier just before everything goes wrong. And lately things have been very wrong. Fires are breaking out faster than anyone can explain. People are tense watching each other like hawks and every other minute someone's looking at me like I'm the reason they're terrified. But Noah...he's different. With his unnerving steady gaze and questions that leave no room to wiggle he's convinced I know something. He's also the only one who seems to get that there's more to these fires than meets the eye. Not that he's willing to share what he knows mind you. For every question he throws my way he's holding back ten of his own. So here I am caught between flames and secrets trying to figure out which one will consume me first. But the closer I get to the truth the more I realize that I'm in over my head. And Noah? He might just be the biggest mystery of all.</p>
