Angel Vierra always thought that Detroit was the Murder Capitol. He solved scores of them there. Now, as an investigator for the Michigan State Police, he has discovered that the rural and resort areas of the state produce a heap of horrific homicides. A vicious vengeance double draws him to the scenic Thumb, where he meets a young deputy, Hannah Bellemer, who could be a supermodel. They team up to solve the case, but it leaves a bad taste in Angel's mouth. He is called back to investigate a string of eight perfect murders that occur once every winter.
