At present some people consider an occupation with Martin Luther to be controversial. However an orientation towards the Reformer and his approach can also be seen as a necessary Christian witness in the confusion of the present. In this sense the first part of this collection of studies from recent years is initially concerned with questions that relate more directly to the historical person of Martin Luther and his Reformation approach. The second part includes contributions that deal with the development of Lutheranism. In the third part selected Lutheran positions are presented and discussed and in the fourth and final part exemplary engagement in the Lutheran Church is dealt with.
