With Pavlova Round the World

<p>Theodore Stier’s <em>With Pavlova Round the World</em> is one of the<br />few first-hand accounts of what is was like to work with the<br />great ballerina. Stier began to conduct for Pavlova in 1910<br />and was her musical director for the next 16 years during<br />which time as he proudly relates he conducted 3650 of<br />her performances. During this time his relationship with<br />Pavlova gradually changed from employer and employee<br />into a close friendship.<br />The book brings Pavlova alive with Stier’s anecdotes and<br />insights into her life and work. Not so much a chronological<br />biography it is more a series of episodes which illuminate<br />Pavlova as a person as well as a great dancer.</p>
