From the small rural town of Oakwood Texas Noble Fields emerged an energetic prosperous African American entrepreneur who became the first black woman millionaire. The family moved California in 1945 and she spent her youth in Fresno. She was inducted into the army on November 22 1954-the same date she later learned that Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on the city bus in Montgomery Alabama to a white man.
