About The Book

This Historical Novel Covers The Life Of A Female Native American Warrior Who Became A Chief In The Crow Nation. Born In The Atsina Tribe In 1800 Pine Leaf Was Abducted By River Crow Hunters When She Was 10 Years Old And Lived The Rest Of Her Life With The Crow Mostly Around The Yellowstone River Valley In Wyoming. The Precocious Girl Convinced Her Mentors That She Would Make A Better Hunter And Warrior Than A Lodge Woman And So Began Her Eventful Often Bloody Life As A Champion Of Her People. . Around 1828 A Black Mountain Man Named Jim Beckwith Moved In With The River Crow. For Ten Years Pine Leaf And Jim Fought Side By Side In Many Battles With Other Tribes. In Time Pine Leaf Became Woman Chief A Crow Leader Who Knew Many Old West Adventurers Including Bill Williams Kit Carson John Fremont And Jim Bridger. Jim Beckwith Later Dictated Woman Chief’S Early Exploits To Historian Thomas Bonner.
