About The Book

From Notes to Words for LivingEvery morning before leaving to teach her 3rd graders the author Ethel L. Jones would strategically place little rhyming notes for her own children to read before they left for their perspective schools. These little notes grew into broader writings for pleasure which resulted in this book Words for Living Ten of the original notes written for the Jones family are at the beginning of the book. The title “Plain Talk for Plain Folks” was considered because most of Ethel’s work carries a message and it was desired that each message be easily understood by the masses. Then without any planning it could be noted that most of the poems could be placed under about five or six specific headings; “Prayers or Praise” “Inspiration” “Women”. “Family” “Love” “Social Issues” and surprisingly “Death”. It just seemed fitting that “Words for Living” became the better title.“See Me” and “No Man” are very moving and should be read aloud to fully appreciate. “Stupidly in Love” is funny but carries a powerful message to young and old ladies and young and old men alike. It is hoped that you enjoy this book as much as the author enjoyed writing it.
