This book provides the tools to employers to identify the best management techniques for employee motivation and productivity in order to improve the overall health of an organization. Managing a multi-generational workforce provides challenges for employers who are unfamiliar with the expectations and motivation of Generation X and Millennials. Although research already exists about the generational differences among Generation X and Millennials most does not address the impact such findings have in changing the way employers manage employees and how failure to engage employees causes an increase in turn-over. A literature review of existing journal articles and case studies was used to identify trends in motivation and expectations of Millennials and Generation X while identifying the best management styles to engage a multi-generational workforce. Using a critical realism paradigm with hermeneutical methodology this book shows how historical events significantly impact each generation’s beliefs expectations and motivation so managers can improve the health of their organization.
