<p><strong><em>Can two peoples alien to each other coexist on the same world?</em></strong></p><p>Ping a small lavender-furred humanoid has discovered that her peoples' undersea habitat is not as perfect as the high chiefs believe.</p><p>As mistakes in the biocomputer and damage to the structure mount and the chiefs ignore her warnings she is called upon to create a new colony on land with the aid of humans who live there.</p><p>In the human colonies Kaylyn and others become concerned by the Phren as their technology is far beyond that of the humans.</p><p>Will both peoples survive?</p>
