Yoga & Gita

About The Book

I have read different interpretations of Gita and was most impressed by Shankara?s interpretation in Sanskrit. Chinmaya followed him in his English version. But I felt that'sankara and Prabhupada ( Gita as It is ) were interpreting it to suit their separate Vedantic systems.  I was  impressed by Jayadayal  Goyandka?s  interpretation as it was not having any particular theory to be brought out from the text of Gita and he conveyed the meaning accurately.Though Gita has named each of its chapter as Yoga no one has tried to compare and contrast the text of Gita with Yoga Sutra. In each chapter at the beginning and at the end Gita gives a clear indication to its intimate relationship to Yoga.  I tried to bring out this according to my study of both. I do not have any pretentions as a Mahayogi but am a good student.Discussing Spirituality is a difficult task. I do not know how interesting it is but it will be definitely beneficial to anyone who takes some time to study it. The use of Sanskrit words is intended to give the exact idea as the words in English may not be the exact equivalent in their implications and nuances. An Annexure at the end gives the meaning of Sanskrit words and it will clarify the doubts if any.
