<p>Sixteen million people are abused every year. For Jean the abuse started at a very young age. The man she married was very abusive. When he died she was set free. The road to recovery is long and hard. Jean was counseled every week for over four years. She still goes to counseling periodically and probably always will. As she put in the work she found the road began to level with far fewer bumps. Jean lives one day at a time. Her goal for each day is to keep it simple.</p>
